The University of Eastern Africa, Baraton (UEAB), a chartered Seventh-day Adventist institution located in Nandi County, is inviting applications for a full-time instructional designer to join its Open Distance and eLearning (ODeL) Department.
This role is ideal for professionals passionate about educational technology, online learning, and innovative instructional design. The successful candidate will collaborate with subject matter experts to design engaging, accessible, and effective digital learning experiences that transform how learners engage with content.
About the Role
The Instructional Designer will be responsible for designing and developing course content, applying instructional design principles, and integrating multimedia tools to create interactive and learner-centered online courses. The position reports to the Director of ODeL and is central to advancing the university’s digital learning vision.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct learning needs analysis and define measurable objectives.
- Design and develop engaging instructional materials aligned with learning outcomes.
- Collaborate with faculty and subject experts to convert traditional courses into interactive online modules.
- Integrate multimedia elements such as videos, simulations, and interactive assessments.
- Evaluate and continuously improve course design for learner impact and accessibility.
- Manage multiple projects, timelines, and stakeholder communications efficiently.
Qualifications and Skills
- Master’s degree in Education, Instructional Design, Educational Technology, or related field.
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Communication, or a similar discipline.
- At least 2 years of proven experience in instructional design or eLearning.
- Proficiency in course authoring tools and Learning Management Systems (LMS).
- Strong grasp of instructional design theories, models, and digital pedagogy.
- Creative visual design and storyboarding ability.
- Excellent communication and project management skills.
